The Royal National Lifeboat
Institution was founded in 1824.

In Cullercoats the first
lifeboat arrived in 1852

A list of services rendered by Cullercoats Lifeboat as printed on the boards in the lifeboat house.

1853 - Feb 4th -  3 fishing cobles- saved vessels and crews

1853 - July 14th - 10 fishing boats -   saved vessels and crews

1856 - Aug 21st - A fishing lugger - saved vessels and crews

In 1858 the lifeboat was replaced by a new boat which was also called "Percy" the same name as its predecessor.

1859 - Mar 29th - A fishing Boat - Saved 4

1859 - Apr 18th - A fishing boat - rendered assistance

1860 - Mar 8th -  A fishing Coble "Honour" of Cullercoats - saved vessel and 3 lives

1861 - Jan 1st - Brig "Lovely Nellie" of Seaham - Saved 6 lives

1861 Jan 5th - Fishing boat - rendered assistance

1861 May 2nd - Fishing Boats - rendered assistance

In 1866 this Lifeboat was removed and another presented by Peter Reid ESQ, and the name of "Palmerston" substituted.

1866 - Dec 14th - Fishing Boats - rendered assistance

1868 - Sept 30th - 31 fishing boats - rendered assistance

1868 - Oct 20th - A fishing coble - rendered assistance

1868 - Nov 21st - Brig "Robert and Sarah" of Blyth -  saved 8 lives

1870 - Jan 14th - S.S "Irwell" of Hull - remained by vessel

1870 - Mar 3rd  - Fishing Cobles - rendered assistance

1870 - Mar 25th - Fishing Cobles - rendered assistance

1870 - Sept 14th - Fishing Coble "Ann-Jane" of Cullercoats - Saved boat and 4 lives

1871 - Sept 27th - Fishing Cobles "Temperance Star", "Margaret" and "6.h.s" - rendered assistance

1873 - Sept 19th - S.S "Lizzie" of London - saved 12 lives

1876 - Sept 29th - 8 Fishing Cobles - rendered assistance

1876 - Oct 18th - Fishing Coble "Palestine" - rendered assistance

1876 - Dec 2nd - Fishing Coble "George" - saved 1 live

In 1884 the "Palmerston" was replaced by "Co-operator No 1"

1884 - May 11th - Fishing Coble "Brothers" - rendered assistance

1888 - Oct 13th - 2 Fishing Cobles "Confido Deo" and "Ann Dick" - rendered assistance

1890 - May 10th - 3 Fishing Cobles of Cullercoats - rendered assistance

1891 - Dec 23rd - Fishing Coble "Inflexible" of Cullercoats - Saved 4 lives

1893 - Jan 11th -  Fishing Coble "Amity" - saved boat and 4 lives
