Bars
Unite For Cullercoats Lifeboat
Four
bars in Whitley Bay have
clubbed together to raise money
for Cullercoats Lifeboat.
Throughout September, 42nd Street,
the Hairy Lemon, La Maison
and Easy Street in the centre
of the seaside town have carried
out various activities to raise funds
for the charity.
And the four-week
initiative of events
culminated in a grand fundraiser
when a cheque for £4,005.11
was handed over to Brian Reeds,
operations manager of the Cullercoats RNLI.
The initiative
was launched by Kevin Hindmarsh,
manager of 42nd Street, who became
personally involved in a sea rescue.
"In June
four girls got into trouble
just outside 42nd Street," he said.
"Along
with two customers I went
out to help them and realised just
how vital the service provided by the
RNLI really is.
"So we
decided to do all we can to raise
funds for the Cullercoats crew.
"I would
like to thank all the local
businesses who donated prizes for
our raffles and to everyone who
put their hands in their pockets."
